Lack of cold storage facilities is a major contributor to the fruits and vegetables wastage. In order to avoid spoilage, deterioration and post-harvest losses of fruits and vegetables and to ensure the consistent supply & preservation of nutrients of fresh produce and processed horticulture produce for longer time, AI is planning to build a cold storage with capacity of 1500 to 3000 metric tons for its raw and processed products. Apart from investing in training farmers in contemporary harvesting and on farm agronomic practices; AI’s cold storage facility will ensure the availability of selected horticulture produce throughout the year and substantially will contribute to decrease the levels of spoilage of fresh fruits and vegetables.
